Christmas in EvaLucia November 27, 2018 11:23

Christmas at EvaLucia is like no other!

The Beauty of Discovery! Connock London award winning Kukui Collection August 07, 2018 14:41

With the alarm set for 3.15 to catch a red eye to London City and nearing 8 months pregnant and London set to be 35 degrees, to say I wasn't relishing in the prospect of a trip to London to cram in two trade shows and showrooms for Spring Summer 19 buying in the space of 48 hours is some what an understatement-fortunately I had Sonia in tow for company (her first insight into the world of buying).

We started our buying off when we arrived at Pure London Kensington Olympia at 9.30, grabbed a quick coffee before 3  separate appointments at Olympia and then off to Scoop London at the jaw dropping Saatchi Galleries to see Italian Brand Anonyme.

5.30pm came and with a bottle of water in my hand, glass of constantly topped up fizz in Sonia's (I'm not envious in the slightest!) and our final planned appointment of the day is wrapped up... well not quite! Sonia being a lover of scents is drawn to a stand hosting a fabulous range of body, skin and home fragrance.

The scent sold itself, after 45 minutes of chatting and testing all things Connock London Kukui Oil, we've placed an order!

Kukui Oil originates from the Hawaiian Islands- it has outstanding skin-conditioning properties, it is an excellent emollient, highly penetrating to the skin, it improves skin suppleness and elasticity (bonus for us expectant mothers!) as well as soothing skin irritations.

The Oil contains very high levels of linoleic and alpha-linoleic acids (essential fatty acids) and provides effective treatment for symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, dry skin and acne.

Kukui Oil has been used by Hawaiians for centuries to keep skin soft and smooth. Traditonally, newborn babies were bathed in the oil as a means of protection from the harsh sun, drying winds and salt water.

The Kukui Oil used by Connock London is sourced from a small factory on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. This treasured health and beauty secret is still produced today in the same pure form as it was centuries ago.

This weekend see's us launch our extensive range of Connock London Kukui oil's scent, skin and Home care range.

We do love a new product launch at EvaLucia! So in true fashion pop in and sample the wonders of Kukui oil products- it will be free flowing fizz and sweet treats- and we will be running a little competition to launch the new to store range.

If you can't make it in-store, you can browse our range online.

Ever wanted a Personal stylist- for free? October 12, 2015 16:43

I sit here writing a blog about styling in a pair of cigarette pants with very uncoordinated pair of grubby burgundy converse, a over-sized bohemian fluffy cardigan, unwashed hair and looking a country mile from put together and stylish- in the main because I'm over worked and tired... I just want to be comfortable, warm, and under my duvet today.

After a rather unsuccessful first trip wedding dress shopping a couple of weeks ago ( in the main because my arse is currently super sized) it got me thinking about body image and how it can make us ladies that have a body hang up or two, waaay more self conscious about our bodies when trying on clothes- no matter how nice the sales assistant is, its really soul destroying trying on clothes that just don't work on you or flatter your shape, or plain just don't fit- I concluded that for all my failings and own hangups, one thing I know is what suits different body shapes- and i LOVE to dress other people well ( when they will let me!)

I tried on dresses I wouldn't normally, ones I knew I would love but just didn't fit, and a couple I really liked but just did not like what was looking back at me in the mirror, what is normally a shapely hourglass silhouette had way more lumps and bumps than it did a few years back- after a couple of years of being comfortable and frequent Friday and Saturday nights drinking wine and copious amounts of nibbles and rich meals, its taken it's toll, I decided enough is enough- I think its too big an ask to kick a sociable drink or two completely, but I will be cutting way back , swapping my processco for a gin and slim line with a fresh lime.

It got me thinking about dressing for your body shape and not buying what you like and how much harder it is to shop if your not a clothes horse or know nothing about the cut of clothing that suit different shapes.

I buy for the store completely differently than I do than when I shop for myself-I think about styles that flatter and suit different shapes, what has commercial appeal rather than a fashion must have ( I would be lying if I don't occasionally get sucked in by trends!) I for one often find myself with lots of stock, but only a limited number of items at anyone time that actually suit my body shape, then do hours of trawling trying to find something to wear, getting myself majorly pissed off when its not successful or I'm trying on clothes that don't fit or do nothing for me.

We recently started doing in-store styling nights for our more regular customers ( anyone is welcome!) and although what was meant to be a styling night, turned into lots of shopping, chin wags and sipping drinks... We thought it might be worth putting all the work put into our intended styling sessions into play, but based on group nights, we thought it might work better on a one to one basis. I'ts very personal, and specific to how you feel, your hair colouring, styling and your body shape at the time ( mines is ever changing).

We have decided moving forward to offer complimentary in-store personal styling- this includes a small questionnaire, getting an idea of what you like, your lifestyle, look at colours that work well on you and help you pick out pieces that you need, or we think would work well on you- no obligation what so ever to purchase- but what it does do, is helps you have confidence in what your picking and wearing, and that when you pay us a visit instore, its no different going shopping with your best friend, or mum ( maybe a little less harsh than my mum!) you will leave knowing you've had an honest opinion, and that what we suggest is suited to your own personal style ( its nice to try something new from time to time) lifestyle and comfort zone.

So for any of you fancying a little styling session, I'm ready and waiting- We have lots and lots of new arrivals, all waiting to be tried on! call the store on 01738 446991, send us a Facebook message, or pop in and see us to book a time.

Styling sessions are available dependent on our in-store staffing levels.

It's an indies life for me... May 26, 2015 22:32

I try incredibly hard to practice what I preach- trips to the butchers, the bakers and the candlestick makers...( the butchers, the deli and the beauticians is more like it, much more 2015 rather than 1915). If your looking for personal service, a tipple while you puruse or wait for your colour to set and keep money in your local economy, creating more jobs and a prosperous place to live, then why not shop independent? Seems like a no brainier - but with busy lifes, internet grocery shopping being quicker and easier than dragging a screaming toddler round tesco, I get why so many of us do this! (I'd be lying if I said i hadn't) I've had to make a real effort to remember that buying local products might mean an extra couple of trips to different shops but it means less packaging, more nutrients as it's not flown half way across the world - so it's more eco-friendly and supportive of the local economy at the same time!

In the last couple of weeks, I've visited The Post Box for dinner, Pig Halle for a drunken post ladies day dinner ( it was excellent despite my inebriated state -oops), Rae Peacock Hair for a colour, a cut and a hair up ( for said drunken day at Perth racecourse) Letting Rae do as he pleased, a trip to Bliss for a spray tan by Rachael pre ladies day ( I don't actually treat myself as much as this, honestly) anyway - I was thinking about why I like using local services other than the obvious, that I want to support fellow independents but the real reason is I trust their judgement, like and admire them as people, value the fact they carry out their business with honesty, integrity and provide a genuinely good service for their customers.

I set up Evalucia to turn my passion for fashion into a vocation, which in turn has become more a way of life for me - I bloodly love it, every part of it! From going on buying trips and seeing garments or shoes I know some or one of my regular customers will love, to hearing all about their wedding plans, their children, entertaining their children while they try on potential wears for date night at the weekend ( yes you Debbie Chan!) or the weekly chats I have with fellow indies thrashing out business ideas and sharing nuggets of wisdom, trying to genuinely help each other - Or Linda from Murrays the bakers bringing in a pie and a pineapple cake for lunch (yum!!) I can honestly say I have never, ever felt such a sense of community at any work place-even the ones where I've met some of my best friends.

I would be telling a lie if there haven't been days, weeks or months where a quieter spell has left me complelty skint, pissed off and ready to quit - but being a stubborn bugger, I kept going ( wondering how next weeks bills would get paid and surviving off hardly any sleep) And I'm so glad I did - this last seven to eight months there has been a real buzz about the place, yes we have quieter days, but on a whole we are kept going and very steady. This prom season I should have bought a stake in the master tailors, we've pinned in and up that many dresses, stuck to our laurels to give honest and diplomatic opinions and tried extremely hard to keep track we are selling only one style of any dress for any prom or special event ( every girls worst nightmare turning up in the same dress).

In summary, it's a tough game - most small business owners do what they do because it's their passion and without passion, there is no enthusiasm or fire. I for one want to keep the fire burning and keep our local shops and  economy thriving - that's why I'm sticking to my laurels and shopping local!!

The Ultimate neutral capsule travel Collection May 12, 2015 00:07

With holiday season fast approaching, and lots of lucky people jetting off on family holidays or heading away for a City Break with your nearest and dearest, we all want to look our best! travelling light is always a tricky for me (8 pairs of shoes does not constitute light travel!) lack of space can spell trouble- how can you possibly fit 8 pairs of shoes and 10 carefully planned outfits if your so space restricted? Capsule suitcase is our chosen topic- what to pack, what to take without compromising on skin, hair care or style.
So here is my top must haves for that weekend in the sun or the city, from top to toe!

I love Davines, and on my last visit to Rae Peacock hair, I picked up the wonderful Davines Oi range which suits all hair types. The main ingredient is Roucou oil which smoothes, shines and protects against heat and free radicals. When I bought two products I picked up this cute pochette free with a travel size shampoo and conditioner- perfect for getting through security at the airport and light enough not to weigh me down! They also have the Oi oil in travel size and the Oi milk (only £6:75 for that size) which I love. Firstly, the Oil is their answer to Moroccan oil but better. The milk is a spray on magic potion. It heat-protects from the drier and irons and also has brilliant UV protection which stops colour fading. A massive draw for me was the fact the whole range speeds up drying time by 50%!, the Roucou Oil acts like a wax jacket and water says on the surface of your hair (Rae explained!). Apart from making my hair feel amazing, the smell is to DIE for! Try it.

Davines hair range is available at Rae Peacock Hair, 42 New Row, Perth 01738 248100

I'm sure I'm not alone with this- at this time of year my skin is tired and dull and need of that boost.

With wearing less makeup in the sun, I want to make sure my skin looks bright and feels good, underneath my mineral makeup-  Vitage Vitamin C Radiance Serum is an instant fix for dull tired skins. It combines encapsulated Vitamin C to energise the complexion, plus Argantensyl to firm and tighten the skin. Great on décolleté, necks or around eyes for an instant lift.
28ml

VITAGE Colour Minerals produces instant light reflection and radiance to instantly brighten skin. Our Natural Daily Perfector helps even out skin tone ideal as a primer under any minerals or on its own to give skin a lovely dewy glow! 30ml £25
Natural Skin Glow creates a youthful skin glow when used all over the face or enhances the face and body when used as a highlighter or as a beautiful base eyeshadow! £18

All products are under 50ml, so will fit snug in you clear bag while going through customs!

Vitage product range is available at Bliss Salon, 34 North Methven Street, Perth. 01738 623329.

When it comes to getting ready at night on holiday, I've gotten pretty lazy ( more to do with being a lush that doesn't like to miss out on valuable in the sun drinking time!) So I always strive to find something casual enough to wear on the beach, but not too laid back you can't take it straight off the beach into a bar or restaurant.

In Eva Lucia we have a lush range of boho maxi dresses- all with Drawstring ties to neck and bust so you can adjust to your body shape. Loose and flowing perfect for comfort in the summer, without compromising on style.

My colour choice would be a neutral shade, (white to show off the tan).

For over the maxi or the swimsuit or the maxi dress, I adore our Japanese Kimono, with over sized sleeves in a beautiful sheer mint green with bird print in Japanese style, this comes with a detachable belt, so wear closed or let it hang loose.

Keeping with the boho theme, I love love these Brazilan made leather sandals with cork wedge- major hint towards my favourite decade for style,  the 70’s. With  padded sock and lightweight wedge these sandals are perfect for all day on the foot. The contrast snakeskin ankle straps add a pop of colour to your outfit.

Our range of talented canvas bags will be my alternative to a bulky beach bag- Sand and chlorine are harsh on our clothes and accessories, so i never want to spend an excessive amount on beach accessories, so at £12 this fits the bill perfectly.

With Summer  just around the corner, and lots of lucky people jetting off on family holidays or heading away for a City Break with your nearest and dearest, we all want to look our best, If your jetting off for a long weekend and travelling light, lack  of space can spell trouble- how can you possibly fit 6 pairs of shoes and 10 carefully planned outfits if your so space restricted? I'm sure I'm not alone in this- but at this time of year my skin is dull and tired, and in major need of some vitamin D!
So it's time to get rid of the dead skin cells and exfolite-ael recommended I try PRIORI  Advanced AHA Barrier Repair Complex-This excellent moisturiser will help replenish and revitalise sensitive impaired complexions. It combines Lactic Acid, time released vitamins alongside a fortifying epidermal complex to strengthen and repair the skins barrier function.

I'm not feeling brave enough to wear a bikini after too much winter indulgence and not enough working out, So for me this Ester break it has to be a swimming costume rather than a bikini. There doesnt need to be any compromise or glamour though- I am loving this cream pacha halter swimming costume available from River Island at £32.

I'm pretty lazy ( more to do with being a lush that doesn't like to miss out on valuable in the sun drinking time!) So I always strive to find something casual enough to wear on the beach, but not too laid back you can't take it straight off the beach into a bar or restaurant.

I love white ( regardless of the lack of practicality) It goes with any colour pallette, looks sharp and classic. This  oversized shirt is a new addition to my wardrobe- wear it alone, or with skinny jeans in the city or denim shorts strolling the marina.

It might be summer, but you can't go wrong with a Lbd-This stunning  body con midi dress is perfect for that sophisticated look. This dress features a plunging neckline with a center front leg split, it also has cascading ruffle along the front and contrasted metal zip fastening.  For those with larger bust like myself, or just not that brave to embrace such a deep V, we've had a couple altered for customers to take the neck line up an inch and a half.

For the perfect versatile evening shoe, barely there sandal makes a good investment- a recurring key look thats back again this season . This minimal style details a metal toe plate, side buckle and leather sock. A versatile sandal, wear with anything from slim white fitted jeans with lose shirt or any shirt or dress this summer. Available in Evalucia in both black and White Leather.

A neutral clutch with a optional strap will make sure you have no colour clashes when it comes to finding a bag to compliment your outfit choice- This bag has enough room to fit in phone, purse, makeup and has plenty space for more! £36
